GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team plays its first road game of the 2021-22 season when it visits Northern Kentucky, the Spartans' furthermost non-conference road trip by mileage (327 miles).

Both teams enter the contest after season-opening victories.

Fueled by De'Monte Buckingham's photoshoot fresh 28-point performance, the Spartans rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to post a 57-53 win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday. The same night, the Norse beat Division II Wheeling, 87-53.

Buckingham's brilliance was beautiful to witness. He opened the contest making his first five shots. Then the 6-foot, 4-inch guard ended it by splashing his final two baskets.

UNCG captured a 67-50 victory in the only other meeting in program history against Northern Kentucky on Dec. 21, 2019. The Spartans used a balancing scoring effort to survive Tyler Sharp's 33-point performance in that contest. Angelo Allegri had 12 points and James Dickey, III pulled 13 rebounds for UNCG in that win. So, these programs aren't familiar with each other.
