Collomb Named Second Team All-American

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) sophomore forward Theo Collomb was named to the United Soccer Coaches 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-America Second Team Thursday afternoon.

This is the latest honor for Collomb, who enjoyed a fantastic year in leading the Spartans to the Southern Conference regular season championship, 13 victories, and a consistent presence in the national polls.

Collomb is UNCG's 15th All-American men's soccer player selected by the United Soccer Coaches and first since 2006 when Scott Jones earned Third Team honors.

"It's something that's huge for the program and for me," Collomb said. "I can't be more thankful to my teammates and staff for this year. I worked hard. I know being named All-American is something huge and I am just so proud to be one of them."

He was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year and a First Team All-Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches earlier this week. Collomb was chosen to participate in the prestigious MLS Showcase.

After scoring two goals during a 3-1 win over then No. 2 and current national semifinalist Clemson on Sept. 21, he was named the College Soccer News, TopDrawerSoccer.com, and United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week (Sept. 28-30). Collomb was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 27 and SoCon Player of the Month for September.

At the end of the regular season, Collomb led the NCAA in goals per game (1.00), goals (15), and points (35). He was second in NCAA in points per game (2.33), seventh in shots per game (4.07), ninth in shots on goal per game (1.93), and 25th in game-winning goals.

The sophomore had five multi-goal games and three game-winning goals. He registered his first-career hat trick against VMI on Sept. 25. He was tied for third in the SoCon in game-winning goals (three) and tied for sixth in assists (five) and assists per game (0.31).

"Congratulations to Theo for being named an All-American," UNCG head men's soccer coach Chris Rich said. "To be listed amongst the best players in the country is such a huge honor. All of us at UNCG are incredibly proud of him for representing this university at the highest level, both on and off the field."

This year's All-Americans will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

NOTES: Collomb is the 16th UNCG men's soccer player in program history to earn All-America honors as Leeroy Magurasushe was named to the All-American Freshman Second Team by College Soccer News in 2015.
