GREENSBORO -- Riley Coonan finished with 10 kills and seven blocks, leading Wofford to a 3-0 victory over host UNCG by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-21 in a Southern Conference volleyball match Monday at Fleming Gym.
With the victory, the Terriers (9-4 overall, 9-4 SoCon) swept the two-match series with UNCG (2-10 overall, 2-10 SoCon).
Spartans senior
Maria Esch finished with six kills, 13 digs, a block and an assist. Esch has 158 kills so far this season and ranks fourth in the SoCon in ranks fourth in the SoCon with a 3.30 kill average.
UNCG sophomores
Camille Anderson and
Brittany Wood hit five kills apiece for the Spartans, while freshman
Haven McPeek had 21 assists and had four digs.
Trailing two games to none, UNCG did not go quietly. The Spartans scored five of six points late in the third game to cut the lead to 20-19 but couldn't get closer.
Wofford freshman Sarah Barham, a middle blocker from Summerfield, hit nine kills with no errors in 13 attacks to increase her SoCon-best hitting percentage to an impressive .411.
UNCG will host Elon in a non-conference match at 6 p.m. Thursday at Fleming Gym.
