WILMINGTON, N.C. - Brianna Gomez and Juliana Craft collected singles wins on Sunday, as UNCG women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision at UNCW. Gomez is now in a tie with Hanna Giddings for a team-high six individual wins, winning each of her last two singles matches against the Seahawks and No. 34 Furman.

UNCW grabbed the doubles point, but Giddings and Sophia Adams took a win from the Seahawks' No. 1 pairing. The Spartan duo was forced to a tie-breaker, but managed to take a 10-7 final for their second doubles win of the season when playing alongside each other.

After seeing her six-match win streak to start the season end against the Paladins, Giddings came within a few games of her seventh singles win of the season, while playing the Seahawks' third seed. The redshirt-sophomore dropped the first set 6-3 before coming back with a 6-4 win to force a third frame. She would drop set number three 6-3 however, as UNCW completed the team win with singles victories on court one, three, four and five. 

Gomez' sixth win of the season took three sets as well, tallying back-to-back set victories to close out her individual matchup with UNCW's No. 2. The senior from Miami, Fla. conceded set one by a score of 6-2 before responding with a win by the same score. Gomez all but blanked her opponent in the third, scoring a 6-1 victory to finish the contest. 

Juliana Craft dropped her opponent in the sixth seed in straight sets. The first-year Spartan tallied a 6-4 win, with the freshman grabbing a 7-5 victory in set two.

The Spartans compete in their final home non-conference match of the spring to close out March, hosting Appalachian State this next Monday at 1 p.m. at UNCG Tennis Courts.
