GREENSBORO -- Fresh off a weekend series sweep, the red-hot UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team puts its seven-game winning streak on the line in a short road trip for a midweek game at Elon.
The Spartans (7-4) will play the Phoenix (3-6) at Hunt Softball Park at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
UNCG comes into the game after sweeping the Southern Conference's individual honors this week. Sophomore right-hander
Morgan Scott (2-2, 3.90 ERA) was the SoCon's pitcher of the week, and senior second baseman
Jasmine Palmer (.379 batting average, 4 HRs, 13 RBIs) was the league's player of the week.
Cleanup hitter
Kayleigh Willis, a senior from Virginia Beach, has led a potent UNCG offense. The Spartans have posted a remarkable .327 team batting average with 19 home runs and are averaging 7.7 runs scored per game.
Willis is on a 11-game hitting streak, and has hit safely in every one of UNCG's games this season. She comes in batting .452 (14-for-31) with 13 RBIs, and eight of her team-high 14 hits have gone for extra bases.
She hits behind left fielder
Jordan Gontram in UNCG's lineup, and the redshirt junior from Wake Forest leads the team with five home runs and 14 RBIs. Palmer, corner infielder

Makenna Matthijs (.364, 12 runs, 9 RBIs) and leadoff hitter
Delaney Cumbie (12 runs, 14 walks, .512 on-base percentage) are all off to strong starts this season.
Scott leads a UNCG pitching staff that has settled down after a tough start against powerhouse Kentucky. Scott lowered her ERA from 5.86 to 3.70 in her last two starts, and she has struck out 30 in 23.1 innings. Opponents are hitting just .213 against her.
Right-hander
Alina Varga is 4-0 with a 4.67 ERA in five appearances so far. The freshman from Boca Raton, Fla., has struck out 23 in 21 innnings.
Elon, meanwhile, returns home after eight straight road games, and the Phoenix has lost six of its last seven.
Senior right-hander Kenna Quinn is 3-4 with a 3.23 ERA, and she pitched a complete game shutout Sunday as Elon beat UConn 1-0 in the Phoenix's final game at the Carolina Classic tournament. Quinn's 35 career wins rank fourth on Elon's all-time list.
Junior outfielder Rebecca Murray comes in batting .414 with a home run and five RBIs to lead Elon's offense. She has hit safely in eight of nine games this seaosn. Freshman infielder Grace Kiser is hitting .267 and leads Elon with two home runs.
For UNCG, it's the fourth of 11 consecutive games scheduled against teams from the Colonial Athletic Association. The Spartans host College of Charleston in a weekend series, with a single game at 4 p.m. Friday and a noon doubleheader Saturday.
