GREENSBORO, N.C. – In a passionately played men's soccer match, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) battled to a 0-0 draw against East Tennessee State Saturday night in the Southern Conference regular season finale for both programs.
The good thing is fans will get an opportunity to see these teams battle each other again next weekend in the Southern Conference semifinals. UNCG will host ETSU either Friday or Saturday at a time to be determined.
It was a tightly contested match that concluded with UNCG keeper
Niclas Wild posting his third clean sheet in his last four outings. It was the second straight shutout for Wild this week. UNCG's defense was tested as ETSU finished with 15 shots.
ETSU had a goal nullified because of a handball midway through the second half.
The Spartans applied plenty of pressure to begin the second half as they had a pair of corner kicks and some quality attempts inside the ETSU 18-yard box. UNCG generated six of its eight shots in the second half. ETSU keeper Josh Perryman finished with two saves.
Ethan Conley,
Theo Collomb, and
Fernando Garcia led the Spartans with two shots each.
