GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro women's soccer team continues their eight-game non-conference slate facing UNC Wilmington on Sunday, August 29 with a 7:00 p.m. start time at UNCW Soccer Stadium.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • Senior Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper returns in net for the Spartans as she was named SoCon Goalkeeper of the Week for back-to-back shutouts to open the season.  
  • Junior Maddy Gilhool and senior Nicole Souply have each scored a goal for the Spartans, while redshirt junior Rachel Rouse and senior Gracie Timbario have each chipped with an assist this season.
  • UNCG was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Poll.
  • Senior Kayla Campbell was the lone Spartan to be named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-SoCon team. She led all defenders in 2019 with five goals, while being a force on the back line helping UNCG to six clean sheets. 
  • UNCG has outscored UNCW 7-4 in the three contests they have played.
SPARTANS' LAST TIME OUT
  • UNCG played to its second draw of the season, with a 1-1 overtime tie against George Washington University Thursday night at GW Soccer Stadium. The game was called in the middle of the first period of overtime due to darkness.
  • 16th minute: Rouse sent a cross from the left flank into the 18-yard box, finding Gilhool who found the back of the net with her left foot just outside the 6-yard box, for a 1-0 lead.
  • Senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper totaled a career-best 12 saves in her ninth draw of her career.
SCOUTING UNCW
  • The Seahawks were picked to finish in a tie with defending CAA champion Elon for second place in the regular season standings. 
  • UNCW sophomore Blair Barefoot was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
  • Graduate student forward Audrey Harding, redshirt senior midfielder Morgan Nanni and senior defender Talia Parrous also received Preseason All-CAA notice.
  • During the 2020-21 season, UNCW posted a 7-3 mark overall and a 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association record.
SEAHAWKS' LAST TIME OUT
  • Redshirt senior midfielder Morgan Nanni and junior forward Jordan Faveri each scored to lead the Seahawks to their first win of the season, a 2-1 victory over High Point at Vert Stadium.
  • High Point outshot UNCW 12-8 in the contest, as the Seahawks totaled five saves to the Panthers' four.
  • UNCW was called for 15 fouls, while High Point recorded eight fouls.

  • UNCG returns home for three-straight matches, first welcoming NC State to the UNCG Soccer Stadium on Thursday, September 2 with a start time of 7 p.m.
