Langley Comes Through Late To Lift UNCG Past Samford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – With its 10-point second-half advantage reduced to two points with under two minutes remaining and tension rising among the fans, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team needed somebody to step forward.

Enter junior guard Keyshaun Langley

He made a pair of critical plays to lift UNCG to a 61-58 victory over Samford in the "Southern Conference Unity Game" at the Greensboro Coliseum Saturday afternoon.

Langley's driving layup with 2 minutes, 22 seconds remaining expanded UNCG's lead to four points and ended an offensive scoring drought that lasted for over seven minutes. A few minutes later, Langley dove on the floor to secure his only rebound of the contest. It led to a pair of made Kobe Langley foul shots.

Keyshaun Langley's game-high 15 points helped UNCG end a three-game skid. Langley, who played his first game on Dec. 11, has his groove back as he averaged 18 points in two UNCG games this week. He has scored in double figures in three of UNCG's last four games.

Keyshaun Langley also dished four assists. One went to his twin brother as they combined on an alley-oop dunk during the first half. When Kobe Langley landed to a roaring crowd, UNCG had its largest lead of the contest, 33-21.

Quotable
UNCG Head coach Mike Jones on the victory.
"We've continued to improve with our offensive execution. We got a lot of great shots. They didn't go in. Our defense held it down for us again. I thought our effort was good, especially in the last few minutes. We played a little harder and tougher. To hold an explosive team like that in the 50s gives us a chance to win."

Keyshaun Langley on UNCG's defensive performance.
"I feel like our defense was pretty good tonight. When our shots are not falling, I feel like our defense holds the fort down for us. That's what we rely on. Coach talked to us about effort. He said if we have effort, it will cancel everything else out, allowing us to play through mistakes.
