CULLOWHEE, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team had a stellar defensive performance in its 64-29 win over the Western Carolina Catamounts on Saturday afternoon.

The 29 points by the Catamounts was the fewest the Spartans have allowed in a game as well as the fewest the Catamounts have scored in a game. Â

The last time the Spartans didn't allow an opponent to score over 30 points was on Nov. 27, 2016 in an 83-26 win over Greensboro College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Isys Grady opened the scoring for both teams with a fast-break layup.
- CeCe Crudup and Nia Howard grew the Spartans lead to six with three-pointers.
- UNCG continued to grow their lead to 15 in the second period with points from Isys Grady and Khalis Cain.
- Western Carolina cut the lead to 11, but Jordan Releford's layup grew the lead to 13 to go into the half.
- The Spartan's lead grew to as high as 27 points in the third quarter with points from Crudup, Boyd, Nitzan Amar, Grady, and Howard.
- Aja Boyd led in the third quarter with four points.
- UNCG had no signs of slowing down leading into the final 10 minutes.
- Boyd opened a 6-0 scoring run for the Blue and Gold to start the fourth quarter.
- The Spartan's defense held the Catamounts to only seven points in the final quarter.
- Excellanxt Greer and Jayla Johnson scored the final six points of the game to make it a 64-29 win for the Spartans.
