Excellanxt Greer set a new career-high in points, previously seven, in the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball, 73-57, loss to the Samford Bulldogs on Thursday night.
Greer's previous career-high was set last season against the Furman Paladins. Tonight, she went 6-11 from the floor and 2-4 from beyond the arc.
"It feels great," Greer said about her setting a career-high. "I'm extremely blessed to be able to hit some shots today. My mindset was to do what I can for my team."
On her earning her first start of the year
"It feels great! I just work hard every day in practice and hard work always pays off. I knew if I just keep t working, my time would come."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartan's first two points came from the charity stripe thanks to Amber Redmond.
- Jordan Releford and Isys Grady contributed with a jumper and a layup.
- Pernilla Sorensen continued her five-game streak with a three-pointer late in the second quarter.
- Jailah Clark-Jones closed out the Spartan's scoring in the first half with a shot from the free-throw line.
- UNCG came out of the half scoring 10 points in three minutes with points from Cain, Grady, and Excellanxt Greer.
- Seven straight points from the Blue and Gold would cut the deficit. Greer joined Sorensen with a made three-pointer.
- Nitzan Amar scored a layup to open the scoring for the Spartans in the final 10 minutes.
- Nia Howard made a three-pointer with 37 seconds left.

"We have to do what we can. We need to come together as a team and find a way to get a win. That's what we're missing right now. I think we can do it. I have faith in my team. We're a good group of girls. We have a lot of talent. We're going to find a way."
