GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) assistant director of strategic communications
Denise Archetto was named the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Rising Star for the University Division.
The Rising Star award honor those with 10 years of service or less whose work at their institution and service, dedication, energy, and enthusiasm to the profession make that individual a "rising star" in athletic communications.
"I am truly honored to receive this award," stated Archetto. "My passion for athletic communications started when I was a student-worker at Lasell College, and I haven't turned back. I want to thank everyone that has crossed paths with me and continued to challenge me professionally and personally."
Archetto will be honored during the annual CoSIDA Convention in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort between June 26-29, 2022.

Archetto started at UNCG in August of 2021. She serves as the sport contact for the Spartan women's soccer, softball, women's golf, and the men's and women's cross country/track programs. In addition, Archetto is the strategic communications liaison to SAAC.
"Denise is great colleague," UNCG assistant women's soccer coach
Stefani Workman said. "She is committed to the success of each program she works. Denise builds great relationships with the players and has shined a light on their stories through pictures, graphics, and social media. Women's soccer is grateful to have her as a part of the team."

In her time at UNCG, Archetto has created logos for Pride and the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. Archetto was a key contributor to the
www.uncgspartans.com website redesign. She has created graphic templates for us to use so that the strategic communications staff can have a consistent brand presence across many of our sports.
Archetto served as the strategic communications lead for the NCAA Division III men's and women's soccer national semifinals and national championships.
Her feature story on cross-country student-athlete Thomas Knepshield storm chasing generated plenty of positive publicity for UNCG as he was featured on the local news and in numerous publications outside of UNCG.
In less than two weeks into her UNCG career, Archetto stepped in immediately and made an impact with women's soccer by producing a dynamic color game program commemorating the 10-member senior class. It was so good and thorough that we adopted that as the standard for all senior day events moving forward in our unit.
"I have been interning with the strategic communications team for a couple weeks now and it has been an absolute pleasure," UNCG senior women's soccer student-athlete Jordin Mosley said. "Working side by side with Denise has been so rewarding and an amazing experience. Working with someone who knows all the answers but is extremely patient and kind is such a blessing. Denise has made my work environment so comfortable, and it is safe to say I will have a life-long friend when my internship is finished."
Prior to UNCG, Archetto spent five years as an athletic communications manager at Stonehill in Easton, Mass. and one year as an intern at Harvard University.
Archetto has been active on CoSIDA committees during her career as a strategic communicator. She's served on the CoSIDAU committee. A member of the CoSIDA Mentorship Committee, Archetto took part in the NCAA Division II ADA Mentorship Committee in 2020-21.
Archetto has been invested in CoSIDA even contributing a powerful CoSIDA 360 magazine piece two years ago about the SID tree from Lasell College.
During the 2017-18 academic year, Archetto received the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA)
Excellence in Communications Award for Cross Country, followed by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA)
Grant Burger Media Award as the East Region recipient for NCAA Division II.

To wrap up the year, Archetto also earned her first CoSIDA recognition for excellence in publications and digital design. The women's basketball poll graphic received
"Eighth in the Nation" for the College Division (NCAA Division II & III and NAIA) in CoSIDA's Infographic Athlete category.
"I am lucky to have Denise as part of the strategic communications family here at UNCG," said Associate AD for Strategic Communications
Rob Knox, a 2011 CoSIDA Rising Star Award winner. "It has been a pleasure to serve as her supervisor and watch her accomplish plenty while continuing to grow as a professional. One quality I admire about Denise is her willingness to consistently ask questions and exit her comfort zone. Denise has demonstrated through her consistent and strong work-ethic that she embodies all the pillars of the Rising Star award."
A native of Cranston, Rhode Island, Archetto was a four-year member of the Lasell College softball team and was co-captain her senior year. Archetto graduated from Lasell in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in sport management and earned her Master of Education in athletic administration from Endicott College in December of 2016.
