LEXINGTON, VA.. – Five from UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track & field ran personal bests on day one of the Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
The Championships were held at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Virginia, hosted by VMI for the fifth-straight year. This year marked the 87th edition of the men's championship and the 35th of the women's championship.
Camille Carlson ran a personal best in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.0. She finished 13th out of 16 competitors.
Ariana Garcia led the way for the milers with her time of 5:10.87 qualifying for finals. She finished fifth out of 17 competitors. Bella Manfre and Serena Henderson also qualified for finals. Manfre clocked in a personal best time of 5:36.98, taking 11th, while Henderson ran a personal-best time of 5:41.25, placing 12th.
Meredith Roberts clocked in a career-best time of 5:52.02 finishing 14th overall.
Sophomore Shay Soukup ran the 3000-meter run crossing the finish line in a career-best time of 10:28.30, finishing 11th.
On the men's side, Colin Alexander qualified for finals in the mile with a time of 4:23.55. Alexander placed 14th overall and fourth in his heat.
