GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 10-1, on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans won the series 2-1.
Zack Mallia singled in the bottom of the second to get the Spartans started.
Collin Fowler worked the Mountaineers pitcher and earned a walk, advancing Mallia to second.
Dallas Callahan hit an RBI single down the right-field line to bring Mallia home for UNCG's lone run of the game.
Sam Murchison earned his first start as a Spartan. He pitched 2.2 innings and allowed three earned runs. The sophomore transfer from NC Central walked one Mountaineer and struck out three.

Austin Koehn had his best outing of the season with 3.1 innings pitched. He allowed one run on two hits. He struck out and walked one. Junior
Jake Wolf got the last out of the seventh inning to stop App State from scoring their two men on base.
Zack Budzik forced the Mountaineers to change pitchers in the bottom of the fifth. The junior shortstop hit his first triple of the season to center field.
Caleb Freeman pinched hit for Callahan in the top of the ninth. Freeman doubled down the left-field line to keep the Spartan's hopes alive. UNCG's last two batters would fly out and ground out to end the game.
