GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) junior pitcher
Morgan Scott fanned 10 batters, matching her season best, to hold on for a 3-1 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday night at UNCG Softball Stadium.
This was the second time this season that Scott retired 10 batters, 12
th time in her career.

"We played really great defense and the bats came alive when we needed it the most today. The key for me tonight was being confident and having command of the strike zone. Coach Kendra had a good strategy for our game plan tonight and we executed it very well."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCG's first hit of the game was a solo home run from Jordan Gontram that went over the center field wall for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
- The Spartans threatened with two more runners after back-to-back hits from Maycin Brown and Samantha Lagrama, but the Red Flash retired the side.
- In the top of the third, Mekenzie Saban tied the game at one with a Saint Francis solo shot to center field.
- UNCG looked to get its second run across as Grace Loftin crushed the ball to right center field but was thrown out at second before the run crossed.
- The Spartans tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth from Batten's RBI single through the right side and a fielder's choice from Jordan Gontram to extend their lead to 3-1.
NOTES
- Gontram tallied her fifth home run of the season.
- UNCG has now hit at least one home run in 19 of the 22 games played.
- Batten went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
- Jordan Gontram went 1-for-3 with one run and two RBI.
- Scott improved to 9-4 in the circle with her 10th complete game in 15 appearances.
- UNCG leads the series 10-1.
- The Spartans have now won eight-straight games against the Red Flash.
