ELON, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team was edged by Elon twice Saturday at Hunt Softball Park in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Blayke Batten and Grace Loftin crushed solo homers in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively.
- UNCG held a 2-0 lead.
- Morgan Scott had a three-pitch inning in the bottom of the sixth.
- She retired the side on fly outs to right field and center field and then a pop up to second base.
- Elon had one last chance in the bottom of the seventh and with one out the Phoenix walked and singled.
- Allee Seering then reached on an error to cut the deficit to 2-1, before Keagan Goldwait launched a three-run homer to left field for the walk-off win.
NOTES
- Morgan Scott struck out eight batters in her 12th complete game of the season.
- Batten hit her sixth homer of the season, the eighth of her career.
- Loftin launched her fifth home run of the season.
- UNCG still leads the series 53-42-2
- This was the 21st game this season with at least one home run.
- This was the 13th game with two or more home runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In its second extra-inning game this season, UNCG saw two leads during game two, but Elon came up on top walking in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th.
- UNCG scored first for a 1-0 lead as Batten singled to center to bring in Delaney Cumbie.
- The Spartans next lead didn't come until the top of the fifth when an error scored two runs for a 3-2 advantage.
- Elon's solo home run in the top of the sixth tied the game at three.
- In extra innings, UNCG stranded one base runner while Elon left four on before loading the bases in the 10th to win.
NOTES
- Scott (4) and Reese Byrd (5) combined to strike out nine batters.
- Maycin Brown (3-for-4) was the lone Spartan with a multi-hit game.
- Five other Spartans tallied a hit.
- Four from Elon had multi-game hits, with Gabi Schaal swinging 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored and a home run.
- UNCG leads the series 53-43-2.

UNCG wraps up the three-game series against Elon tomorrow, Sunday, March 20 with a first pitch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. at UNCG Softball Stadium.
Following the single game against Elon on Sunday, UNCG will continue a six-game homestand. The Spartans open SoCon play on Saturday, March 26 with a doubleheader hosting Mercer at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
