ORLANDO, Fla.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team dropped the series finale, 3-2, against the Central Florida Knights on Sunday afternoon inside of John Euliano Park.
The Spartans won the series 2-1.
Sophomore
Collin Fowler put the Spartans on the board with a two-run homer over the left-field wall in the top of the fifth inning.
LHP
Jared Mathewson earned the start for UNCG and came out hot. Mathewson held the Knights hitless through the first two innings. The Knight's first hit came in the bottom of the third with a single to right field.
UCF scored three in the third and that was all they needed.
UNCG had a chance to tie the game or take the lead in the top of the ninth.
Greg Hardison was hit by a pitch and then advanced on a ground out from
Mitchell Smith. The Knight's closer struck out the last two Spartans to end the game.

· The Spartans pitchers held UCF to five hits and struck out eight.
· Fowler's home run was his first as a Spartan.

· The Spartans two straight wins this weekend was the first time UCF has lost two in a row this season.
