SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision to Wofford in a Southern Conference treasure Friday afternoon.
In another match that could've been decided either way, the Spartans fought hard and almost climbed out of a 2-0 hole to capture the victory. UNCG dropped the decisive doubles set 7-6 and singles match in three sets.
UNCG got victories from its top three singles players
Nico Grewe,
Alexander Zuckerman, and
Hugh Knapp.
Roger Rogowski and Grewe won at No.1 doubles for UNCG, 7-6.
Grewe and Zuckerman rolled in straight sets. Grewe's victory was his eighth of the season. He won his match, 6-1, 6-4. Zuckerman's 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles tied the match at 2-2.
Knapp is in a nice groove as he won his fourth straight match. His 7-5, 6-3 victory tied the match at 3-3.
UNCG returns to action on Friday when it visits East Tennessee State at 2 p.m.
