Scott and Byrd Have Career Performances in Doubleheader Sweep

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following an impressive weekend at the plate, UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball pitchers Morgan Scott and Reese Byrd had notable performances Wednesday night during a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Radford.

Scott had a career day as she struck out 16 at the plate, allowed just three hits and no walks in the Spartans' second shutout of the season winning 4-0.

The junior retired 13-straight, from the last out of the third to the end of the game.

Byrd also showed out as she sat down a season-best seven batters, as UNCG defeated Radford 4-3.

The freshman had her own stretch, where she retired seven-straight from the start of the game to the top of the third and then another 11 from the end of the fourth to the final out of the game. She allowed just three hits, three runs and one walk.

From Morgan Scott
"Coach Kendra and I worked really hard on getting ahead and expanding the zone this past week. I was able to do that today and it meant a lot to me to get the win and shutout. I was able to really command the zone and can't wait to see what happens this weekend!"
