CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team found its groove late in the game for its fourth come-from-behind win of the season, defeating UConn 6-2 at the Carolina Classic on Friday.

Grace Loftin, who had two of the Spartans' four hits on the day is on a four-game hit streak.

"We had a slow start but stayed calm and fought after they got ahead early. It was a real team effort and the energy in the dugout was awesome."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the first, UConn led off the game with a solo blast from Marcelino to left field and added to its lead with a one-out homer to right center from Garcia for a 2-0 lead.
- UNCG put two runners on in the bottom of the frame on walks, but the Huskies retired the side.
- Makenna Matthijs drove a long fly ball to center field and safely made it to third for the Spartans' first hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
- Loftin then connected for a one-out double to right center, bringing home Matthijs to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- With runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth, UNCG's Maycin Brown tied the game at two with her RBI double.
- The Spartans took a 3-2 with a sacrifice fly from Jessie Shipley to bring home Matthijs.
- The deed was not done that inning as Grace Loftin took the opportunity for a two-out, three-run blast over the left field wall extending the lead to 6-2.
- The Huskies threatened in the top of the seventh with two runners, but the Spartans retired the side to hold on for the win.
NOTES
- Loftin recorded her third home run of her collegiate career. This was her second-straight homer.
- Matthijs and Brown each tallied a hit for the Spartans.
- Loftin registered her second game with four RBI, while Brown and Shipley each chipped in one of their own.
- UNCG has launched a home run in 13 of the 15 games played this year.
- UNCG evened the series at one win apiece.
