GREENSBORO, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team shot a second round 285 at the Southern Conference championships Saturday afternoon.
 
Four of the five Spartans enjoyed rounds of par or better highlighted by Nick Lyerly's 69. UNCG trails ETSU by 11 strokes heading into the final round.

"Shooting three under, you can't be too disappointed in that. I hit a lot better today and made a couple of more putts. I would've liked to make more, but all in all, a good day. Overall, nobody shot bad for us. We played solid today as a team. ETSU had a good day and they had one guy go crazy. We played good and they played better. There's nothing you can do about what they did. Overall, we have nothing to hang our heads about."

• Lyerly set the tone for his day by shooting a three-under 33 on the front nine.
• The centerpiece of Lyerly's round was his eagle on the par-5 517-yard seventh hole.
• Lyerly was the third Spartan this weekend to hit an eagle on the seventh hole.
• Lyerly complemented his performance with four birdies.
• He is tied for sixth overall along with Tommy Lamb.
• They each have shot 141 through two rounds.   
• Lamb, Randall Hudson, and Noah Connor all shot an even par 72.
• Hudson, Connor, and Symon Balbin led UNCG with five birdies each.
• They each had three birdies on the back nine.
• Connor, Balbin, and Hudson each birdied the seventh hole for UNCG.
• Connor was one-under 35 on the front nine.
• Symon Balbin and Lamb were even par on the front nine.
