GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team, the top seed, fell in eight innings to the third-seeded Chattanooga Mocs Saturday afternoon in the 2022 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship game.

Morgan Scott were named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team.
In the 9-7 loss, UNCG reached 100 home runs in the season. The 100
th bomb was hit by
Jordan Gontram, her 53rd of her career and 19
th of the season. Earlier this year, she previously broke the UNCG single season home run record and the team single-season home run mark with one swing.
Gontram crushed a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Cumbie followed with her own two-run bomb in the bottom of the fifth and Maxwell hit out the Spartans' third home run in as many innings in the sixth.
UNCG kicked off the game with a 2-0 lead from an RBI double from
Brooklynn Maxwell and then scored off a wild pitch. The Mocs tied the game putting a run up in the third and fourth frames.
The Spartans' homers took the lead back for a 7-2 advantage.
In the top of the third, Scott struck out her seventh batter of the game, reaching the 600-career strikeout plateau. She is just the second Spartan to reach that mark.
Chattanooga then put up five runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at seven. Reagan Armour had a three-run homer and Kaili Phillips crushed a two-run home run.
The Mocs' saw Adison Keylon and Armour blast solo shots in the top of the eighth for their first lead of the game, 9-7.

- Cumbie, Maycin Brown, Gontram each had one hit.
- Maxwell went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
- Cumbie and Gontram also had two RBI.
- Brown tripled.
- The Spartans have hit at least one home run in 46 games this season.
