FINAL WORDS FROM COACH GODWIN (GAME ONE)
On weather pushing the game back a day
"We had to do it last week in the conference tournament, had a 9 a.m. game. You can sit here and look back, I tell our kids all the time, we're going to point the thumb and we're not going to point the finger at anything. We're going to be accountable and responsible for anything and we just condition our kids that way. We just grind through whatever is thrown at us."
Â
Mathewson pitched 7.1 innings against Texas Tech, allowing five hits and striking out seven batters. In 97.1 innings pitched this season, he has struck out 70 batters, walked 31, and pitched one complete game.
Â
Senior
Alex Hoppe pitched the final 1.2 innings against Texas Tech. He struck out two batters and allowed a run. He finished the season with a 2.97 ERA, the lowest on the team, 84 strikeouts, and 30 walks in 66.2 innings.

FINAL WORDS FROM COACH GODWIN (GAME TWO)
"It's tough, I've said this over and over, it's tough to get here, it's tough when you're here and you lose and turn around and play again. That's probably the toughest game in the tournament to overcome. If you survive, then you start to gain some momentum. Jared certainly gave us every opportunity to gain that kind of momentum. We just weren't enough. I thought Birdwell [from Texas Tech] was good. We faced two really good arms today. Our kids swung the bat all year and that's a credit to those two young men that pitched against us today. I was just proud of our kids. To be 0-7 and watch them get better every day. I have a lot to be proud of. We will be back. That's what I'm going to tell them."
