GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team plays in its final regular season tournament, hosted by Charleston Southern, before beginning Southern Conference (SoCon) play next week.
The Buccaneers are hosting the Chucktown Throwdown at Buccaneer Fieldhouse from Friday, September 16 to Saturday, September 17.
The Spartans are 6-4 heading into the tournament this weekend.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Spartans competed in the Aggie/Phoenix Volley for Unity finishing 1-2 with its lone win over NC Central, 3-0.
- Taylor Robertson and Ella Voegele earned their second All-Tournament Team awards on the season.
- In its last match of the tournament, where the Spartans fell 3-1 against Elon, Robertson led the match with a career-best 19 kills.
- She also had two aces and 12 digs.
- Voegele tallied 23 digs, while Gabriela McHugh had a match-high38 assists.
- Elayne Grisbee and Daija Jackson each had five blocks.
TOURNAMENT AWARDS
- At the Spartan-Aggie Tournament (August 26-27), Mya Wood and Gabriela McHugh were named to the All-Tournament Team.
- Following the Tussle in the Triad Tournament (September 2-3), Taylor Robertson and Ella Voegele earned the honors.
- Robertson and Voegele also were named to the All-Tournament Team after the Aggie/Phoenix Volley for Unity Tournament.

- Senior Gabi Bailey leads the pack with 3.19 kills per set, while Lexi Wierzbicki is averaging 2.45 kills per frame.

- Charleston Southern carries a 5-6 record into the weekend after edging The Citadel, 3-2, on Tuesday.
- Charleston Southern was picked to finish sixth in the Big South Preseason Poll.
- The Buccaneers lead the nation in both total kills (564) and total assists (518).
- They rank second in the Big South in kills per set (12.82).
- Peyton Thompson, a 2021 All-Big South first team selection, paces four Charleston Southern players averaging 3.86 kills per set.
- Angelika Rusin is averaging 4.66 digs per set and is first in the Big South.
