GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will face its first top-25 ranked opponent this season in No. 25 Louisville, tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27.
 
Louisville is also No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches South region and No. 29 in the College Soccer News Top-30 Poll.
 
UNCG is currently No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches South Region, No. 12 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll, and No. 15 in the College Soccer News poll.
 
The Spartans are 5-1-2, which is the best start under fourth-year Head Coach Chris Rich. UNCG's 5-0-2 was the best start in program history since 2004 when the Spartans went 5-0-1 to begin the season and 19-3-1 overall.
 
CLIMBING HIGH

• UNCG earned its first United Soccer Coaches national ranking after starting the season 4-0. The Spartans are currently 18th in the nation.
• The squad is also No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches South Regional poll.
• The Spartans are the highest non-ACC school ranked in the region.
• Most recently, UNCG earned a No. 20 ranking from College Soccer News and earned a No. 16 ranking from TopDrawerSoccer.

• UNCG recorded its first lost of the season to Campbell, 1-0.
• Both teams had nine shots.

SOCON PRESEASON POLL & AWARDS
UNCG was voted to take the title in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches Poll after winning the 2021 Regular Season Title.

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE

• The Cardinals are entering the contest 5-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
• Louisville was picked to finish third in the ACC.
• Junior midfielder Eric Danquah was named to the league's Preseason Watch List.
• Last season Louisville finished 10-7-1 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Cardinals lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0, to Bowling Green.
• They are currently on a three-game unbeaten streak, following a 2-1 victory over No. 8 University of Pittsburgh. This was their second top-10 win of the season.
• Louisville also had a 1-0 shutout over Florida Gulf Coast, who was receiving votes.
• The Cardinals are outscoring their opponents with 1.88 goals per game to 1.13 goals per game.

• Konstantinos Georgallides and Aboubacar Camara lead the team with three goals apiece.
