GREENSBORO, N.C. – With a 3-0 start, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team strives to remain perfect hosting the High Point University Panthers tomorrow, Tuesday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m.
 
Last week, the Spartans received a No. 7 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches South Region Poll and received votes in the national poll. UNCG is also No. 26 in the College Soccer News Poll.
 
This is the best start for the program since the 2013 season when the Spartans also began the slate 3-0. This is also the first time under fourth-year head coach Chris Rich that the Spartans are undefeated to begin the season.
 
UNCG SOCCER STADIUM INFORMATION
Gate entry: 
Fans should enter at the main gate into the soccer stadium located off of West Drive below the tennis courts. Gates are open to fans one hour prior to the start of the match.
 
Parking:
Parking is free in the Walker Deck one hour prior to the start of the match. Fans parking in the Walker Deck should follow West Drive down to the main entrance of the soccer stadium.
 
Food and Beverages:
No outside food and drink are permitted in the soccer stadium. A sealed water bottle is permitted. A variety of food and drinks will be sold at the concessions stand on the soccer concourse. Concessions are CASHLESS - payment options include Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
 
CLIMBING HIGH
  • UNCG earned its first United Soccer Coaches South Region ranking, taking the seventh spot in the top 10 last week
  • The Spartans are the highest non-ACC school ranked in the region.
  • UNCG also received 23 votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, sitting just outside the top 25 teams in the first installment of the poll this season.
  • Last week, the Spartans received a No. 26 ranking from College Soccer News after being ranked No. 29 in the preseason poll.

  • Hernandez is the first Spartan to score a hat trick since Theo Collomb's three goals against VMI on September 25, 2021.
  • He is also the third Spartan under head coach Chris Rich (Hernandez, Collomb, and Albert Pedra in 3-1 win over ODU on November 2, 2019.
  • Emmanuel Hagan and Maycol Reyes also scored in the win over the Chanticleers.
SOCON PRESEASON POLL & AWARDS
UNCG was voted to take the title in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches Poll after winning the 2021 Regular Season Title.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
  • High Point is entering the game  1-1-1 overall after falling to Wofford on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2-1.
  • The Panthers tied 1-1 against No. 2 Georgetown on August 28 and defeated Davidson 1-0 on August 25.
  • Tony Pineda leads the team with two goals, while Kaya Ignacio has one goal this season.
  • Jefferson Amaya, Sebastian Chalbaud, and Tanner Rothenberger each have one assist.
  • In net, Trent Holden has played and started in all three games with 1.00 goals against average with just nine saves.
  • Holden was named the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI Third Team Goalkeeper and Big South Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, while Amaya earned a spot on the Freshman Best XI team as a midfielder.
