GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team welcomes the Queens University of Charlotte tomorrow, Tuesday, September 6 for a single match before getting back into tournament play this weekend.
 
The Spartans are heading into the match 4-2, while the Royals are 2-4 overall.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Spartans were the runners up at their own Tussle in the Triad Tournament.
  • UNCG defeated South Carolina State and UNC Asheville 3-0, falling to Georgia Southern, 0-3.
  • Taylor Robertson averaged 3.14 kills per set this weekend, and is second on the team overall. She also averaged 2.43 digs this weekend.
  • Gabriela McHugh averaged 8.38 assists per set and 2.38 digs per set. McHugh tallied her 34th-career double-double against UNCA (14 digs, 24 assists).
  • Ella Voegele totaled five aces in the three matches with four of them happening in the South Carolina State contest, for a career-best.
  • Voegele and Robertson were named to the All-Tournament Team.

UNCG was voted to finish sixth in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches' Poll.

SCOUTING QUEENS (CHARLOTTE)
  • This is the first year that Queens is competing as a Division I institution.
  • The Royals are comprised of seven returners and 12 newcomers.
  • Queens comes to Greensboro with a 2-4 overall record with victories over Stonehill (3-0), and UNC Asheville (3-1).
  • Alleigh Johnson, who was named to the SAC All-Freshman Team, is averaging 3.55 kills per set this season.
  • Jordyn Johnson and Kayla McDuffie also return as they were named to the SAC All-Freshman Team.
  • Kaylin Dowling leads the team with 0.45 service aces per set.
  • Kendall Buish is averaging 5.23 assists per set, while Jessie George is averaging 4.18 digs per set.
  • Hallie Brown (0.76), Anna Law (0.73), and Abbey Criser (0.71) are the top three Royals in blocks per set.
