GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team fell to Samford, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After 27 minutes of back-and-forth, Samford's Mary Raymond put the Bulldogs up 1-0, with a from 25 yards out. UNCG's best opportunity to counter came in the 38th minute when
Rachel Poplin found space for a one-touch before kicking the ball into the hands of Samford's goalkeeper Zoe Clevely.
The Bulldogs had a span of three shots in 25 seconds in the 47
th minute of play, where
Emma Malone made two saves. At 53:02, Samford's Ella Simpson had a header from inside the six-yard box off a free kick taken by Alyssa Conarton to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. To seal the win for Samford, Brigid McElderry stuck the ball right below the crossbar for a 3-0 lead.
