CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team took a straight set loss to Western Carolina in Cullowhee Friday night (20-25, 18-25, 9-25).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Catamounts began the match with a 3-0 run and the Spartans responded with three-straight points of their own. Later on, a 7-2 run put Western Carolina up 10-5 in game one. UNCG chipped away to earn its first lead of the match (16-15). With set one tied at 20, the Catamounts posted a 5-0 run to secure the first set, 25-20.

Western Carolina continued its momentum into the second set by starting it off with a 6-0 run that was mostly attributed to attack errors from UNCG. Western Carolina held the lead for the remainder of the match. Back-to-back kills from Western Carolina's Bailey Hartsough gave the home team game two, 25-18.

The third set started very similar to the second with Western Carolina capping a 7-1 run to hold the lead for the rest of the match. Western Carolina notched a .652 hitting percentage to UNCG's .087 in the third game. Two consecutive kills from the Catamounts' Eden Punch gave the team the third and final set, 25-9.
