HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG captured a 5-1 lead over the Bulldogs to begin the match thanks to kills from Aylin Baran, Daija Jackson and Izora Gragg and a service ace from Madeline Timmerman. The Spartans held the lead until late in the set. With the squad up 21-19, Samford captured a 3-0 run to take its second and last lead of set one. A 4-0 run that was ended by a service ace from Mallory Meers gave the Spartans the first game, 25-22 for the 1-0 lead.

The second set stayed close early on. However, with UNCG up 10-9, Samford recorded a 4-0 run to take the lead and hold it for the remainder of the match. A final kill from Samford's Gracie Lynn Butler gave the visiting team set two, 25-16.

The Bulldogs continued their momentum into the third set by getting on the board first with a 2-0 lead to never allow the Spartans to lead in set three. Back-to-back kills from Samford gave the team set three, 25-16 to put the team up 2-1 in the match.

Samford continued to hold the lead into game four. The Bulldogs recorded a 6-0 lead over the Spartans to begin the final set and hold the lead for the remainder of the match. A 6-1 run sealed the last set for Samford to claim the match.
