GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team dropped a four-set match to The Citadel on Thursday night (13-25, 16-25, 28-26, 23-25).
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG took its first lead of the match due to back-to-back errors from the Bulldogs to make the score 5-4 in game one. However, The Citadel responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead and the Bulldogs held the advantage for the remainder of the first game, to claim the win, 25-13.

Set two was very similar to the first in that the Spartans earned an early lead, 5-2, until The Citadel maintained control. The Citadel utilized its highest hitting percentage of the match, .421, to take set two 25-16.

UNCG got on the board first in the third set with a kill from
Madeline Timmerman to start a 3-1 run. The third game continued to be a very close battle featuring 16 ties and eight lead changes throughout. Fleming Gymnasium saw four different set points in game three. However, with the game tied at 26, back-to-back kills from
Aylin Baran would give UNCG the third set, 28-26.

UNCG continued it momentum in the fourth set by starting things off with a 2-0 lead. The Spartans held the Bulldogs from taking the lead until close to the middle of the set, 12-11. The fourth game would see a total of 13 ties and seven lead changes. With the set tied at 23, the Bulldogs notched two-straight points to claim match point, 25-23.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Baran led UNCG with 18 kills on the day.
- Timmerman and Hallie Cook followed closely behind with 11 kills apiece on the day.
- Izora Gragg and Mallory Meers led the Spartans as setters with 47 assists collectively.
- Mya Wood stood on top as the libero for UNCG with 17 digs.
