Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team shut out The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Furman, 1-0 in a Sunday match-up at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Spartans had three shots at the Paladins' goal, in the 35
th minute
Claire Esse passed the ball to find the feet of
Caroline Woods at the top of the 18-yard box. Woods struck the ball straight into the back of the net for the Spartans to take the lead, 1-0.
The intensity picked up after the break, with Furman's best shot came at 77:07 when Helen Gutierrez had her shot punched away over the crossbar by goalkeeper
Abby Buchholz. The two teams continued more back-and-forth play to finish the game with UNCG winning 1-0.
