Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team shut out The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Furman, 1-0 in a Sunday match-up at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
After the Spartans had three shots at the Paladins' goal, in the 35^th minute Claire Esse passed the ball to find the feet of Caroline Woods at the top of the 18-yard box. Woods struck the ball straight into the back of the net for the Spartans to take the lead, 1-0.
 
The intensity picked up after the break, with Furman's best shot came at 77:07 when Helen Gutierrez had her shot punched away over the crossbar by goalkeeper Abby Buchholz. The two teams continued more back-and-forth play to finish the game with UNCG winning 1-0.
