SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team took a straight-set loss (22-25, 15-25, 16-25) at Wofford on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the first set being tied at two scores apiece, the Terriers notched a 7-1 run to take a 9-3 lead over the Spartans. Wofford continued to hold the lead for the majority of set one. However, with UNCG down 16-19, the squad notched a 4-0 run that featured kills from
Lauren Janosy,
Aylin Baran, and a service ace from
Mallory Meers to give the team its first lead of set one (20-19). With the Spartans on top, 21-20, the Terriers responded with a 5-1 run to claim the first game, 25-22.

The Terriers started off the second set by recording a 9-1 run to never allow UNCG to lead. A final 3-0 run from Wofford gave the team set two, 25-15 to put them up 2-0 in the match.

Wofford continued its momentum into the third set by starting things off with a 4-1 run and maintaining the lead throughout the entire third game. However, the Spartans capitalized on two errors from Wofford and a service ace from Sziksai, cutting the deficit to eight, 24-16, before the Terriers' Natalie Arnold secured match point with her seventh kill of the match.Â

- Baran led the Spartans with nine kills on the day, tying Wofford's outside hitter, Sarah Barham with nine kills as well.
- Janosy followed closely behind with six kills in the match.
- The Spartans led both teams in service aces with six.
- Meers led UNCG as the setter with 13 assists on the day.
- Valeria Calderon and Sziksai led the Spartans in passing with eight and six digs, respectively.
- As a team, Wofford notched 11.0 total blocks to UNCG's 4.0.
