NFCA Announces All-Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Jorde Chartrand of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team received National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mideast Region honors, as announced by the organization on Thursday.  
 
Chartrand was voted to the second team. The sophomore was among 381 recognized as Division I All-Region honorees. All awarded student-athlete now become eligible for the 2023 NFCA Division I All-America squads.  
 
The Saskatchewan, Canada native was most recently named to the Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference first team prior to the SoCon Tournament. Earlier this season, she was voted the SoCon Player of the Week on April 17 and May 8.
 
This season she has had 14 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games. She has started in the circle 12 games this season and 42 games as the designated player.
 
She leads the team with a .343 batting average and .562 slugging percentage, has six doubles, and eight home runs. Her 36 RBI are third on the team.
 
Among the SoCon, Chartrand is fifth in batting average (.343), seventh in slugging percentage (.562), and eighth runs batted in (36).
 
Among the SoCon in pitching categories, Chartrand is first in saves (4), third in games in relief (19), opposing batting average (.233) and games finished (14), seventh in appearances (31) and batters struck out (82), ninth in wins (7), hits allowed (93), and runs allowed, and 10th in innings pitched (103.2) and earned run average (3.38).
 
Her four saves in the circle are 30th in the nation.

UNCG (37-20, 13-4 SoCon) is coming off the 2023 SoCon Tournament Championship title and earned the automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.  The SoCon Tournament title is the third title in six years, winning in 2021 and 2018. It is the seventh title in program history, winning four Big South trophies. It is also the seventh appearance in program history in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans will be playing in the Clemson Regional and facing host and the 16th-seeded Clemson Tigers on Friday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. at McWhorter Stadium.
 
The Spartans also won the 2023 SoCon Regular Season Title after sweeping Western Carolina in their final series of the season. This was their sixth-straight SoCon Regular Season title.
