"I am thrilled to welcome Matt to Greensboro, said Coach Breneman. "A proven winner, Matt has truly enhanced every program he's been a part of. His energy and passion for this game is infectious and I'm excited to see him add another dimension to our dynamic offense. Matt's postseason success and experience stands out to me, and I am eager to add him to the team and see him in the Blue and Gold!"

During his time with the Panthers, he was a vital part helping the team improve from ninth to fourth in ACC offensive categories and improved overall wins from 14 to 24. In addition, he coached two players to All-ACC Conference honors and two to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region recognition.

Prior to his stint in Pittsburgh, Stewart coached at fellow North Carolina foe Campbell. In addition, he was instrumental when the Fighting Camels won their first NCAA Tournament game since 2009 during the 2021 season.

Before his time in Buies Creek, Stewart served as the volunteer assistant coach at South Carolina from 2016-18. During his time with Gamecocks, Stewart helped the team reach the Super Regionals and earn the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a 49-17 overall record.

Stewart started his career at Florida as the team manager from 2013-15, before becoming a graduate assistant for the Gators from 2015-16. He was a member of the support staff when the Gators won two National Championships (2014, 2015) and also earned Coaching Staff of the Year in 2015 as a graduate assistant.

He received his master's degree in sports management from Florida in 2016 while working with the Gators. Stewart earned his bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in business administration in 2014 in Gainesville.
