No. 13 Louisville Halts Men’s Soccer, 2-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team fell to No. 13 Louisville, 2-0, on Friday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in non-conference play. This was just the third meeting between the two teams.

The Spartans are 15th in the TopDrawerSoccer national poll during week one of play, while they are also 24th in the College Soccer News national poll.

Louisville is ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 29 in the College Soccer News national poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisville kept possession for most of the first half outshooting the Spartans 8-5 in the frame. The Cardinals put a tally on the board just nine minutes into the half. Louisville took the ball up the right channel and Sander Roed slipped the ball to a front-and-center Gage Guerra inside the 18-yard box for a 1-0 advantage.

The Cardinals doubled the score just three minutes into the second half after a give-and-go led Quinton Elliot to net for a 2-0 lead. Two of UNCG's opportunities happened late in the 73rd minute when Colton Sessoms and Yoshiya Okawa each had a shot on goal, but the Cardinals' Alex Svetanoff was there for the saves. Louisville's defense contained UNCG for the remainder of the time while its offense took four more shots before the end of the frame.
