MACON, Ga. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team tallied a draw against Mercer in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play on Sunday in Betts Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the Spartans' attacking third,
Caroline Woods found the open foot of
Mel Herrera inside the 18-yard box. In the 10
th minute, Herrera dribbled into the six-yard box and used her right foot to find the bottom left of the goal, to put the Spartans up 1-0.
Mercer quickly answered with Jada Moorman finding the top right of the goal from the top of the 18-yard box in the 18
th minute off a pass from Ciara Whitely for the equalizer, 1-1.
After back-and-forth play in the second half, the Bears had one last chance with 10 seconds remaining with a free kick from inside the 18-yard box. UNCG's defense sprang into action deflecting the kick over the crossbar to keep the game, 1-1.
