Three Spartans Tally Double Figures in 76-61 Win Over The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team bounced back with a 76-61 victory over The Citadel on Wednesday night at the McAlister Field House.
 
Three Spartans tallied double-figures, including Keyshaun Langley with a game-high 21 points, Donovan Atwell recorded 17 points, and Joryam Saizonou tallied 12 points.
 
Keyshaun Langley also reached the 200 career steals milestone with his two this game. He is fourth in the UNCG record book, sitting behind Isaiah Miller (315), Ricky Hickman (236), and Courtney Eldridge (226). Kobe Langley is one shy of 200 and is fifth in the record book.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans opened the game with a 10-0 run, which included two three pointers from Atwell and two layups from Mikeal Brown-Jones. The Bulldogs scored six-straight points to cut the deficit to 10-4, but UNCG bounced right back climbing to a 23-point lead, 36-13, with 4:52 on the clock. The Citadel went on a 13-6 run to close out the first half down by 16, 42-26.
 
UNCG capitalized on its 52-percent shooting in the second half and never allowed The Citadel to lead. With 12:40 left on the clock, Saizonou made a layup to put the Spartans up by 27, 62-35, for their largest lead of the game. The Bulldogs then scored eight-straight points to come within 19, 62-43. Both teams traded three-pointers with 3:19 left on the clock and then neither team scored for two minutes and 19 seconds. Both teams drained one final three pointer each before the buzzer, as UNCG walked away with a 76-61 victory.

  • Jalen Breath had a team-best eight rebounds.
  • Kobe tallied a game-high seven assists.
  • Atwell went 5-for-12 from behind the arc leading the game with five three-pointers made.
  • This is the seventh game this season that the Spartans shot over 50-percent in field goals with 51.8-percent mark.
  • The Spartans' 12 steals this game matched their season best of 12 against Samford on Jan. 11.
  • UNCG outmatched The Citadel from behind the arc, 48.1-percent to 26.7-percent.
