GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell in its second game of the series against Binghamton, 9-6 on Saturday at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans started off the contest with a 4-0 lead over the Bearcats after earning two runs a piece in the first and second innings. With Spartans occupying all the bases in the first inning,
GC Jarman singled to left center for two RBI, bringing home
Matt Venuto and
Caleb Cozart (2-0). UNCG added to its advantage in the second inning. An error from the Bearcats' catcher, advanced
Jeremy Wolf to second base and scored
Brantley Truitt (3-0). The Spartans added one more run in the second inning after
Jake Ogden hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Wolf (4-0).Â

The Bearcats' offense came alive combining eight runs across the third through fifth innings, where they took an 8-4 lead.

UNCG was able to cut the deficit to two in the sixth inning after
Aidan Brewer recorded his first homer of the season, sending himself and Jarman home (8-6).

Binghamton added one more run in the seventh inning for the last run of the day for both teams, giving the Bearcats the 9-6 victory.

- The Spartans notched seven hits in the game.
- Starting pitcher, Sammy Tortorella threw four strikeouts.
- In his one inning on the mound, Hunter Shuey recorded one strikeout and gave up zero hits.
