GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team is back home this weekend to host Mercer in a Southern Conference (SoCon) series starting Saturday and concluding Sunday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
Saturday will feature a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. UNCG will close out the series on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
This weekend will be senior recognition weekend as well as Alumni Weekend for softball. Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, the Spartans' seniors will catch a first pitch from their dads. Senior alumni will also get recognized in between games. The first 100 fans will receive a FREE hat!
On Sunday before the game, UNCG will recognize its seven seniors.
The Spartans are currently 27-22 overall and 9-6 in the SoCon, while the Bears are 21-23 overall and 10-5 in conference action.
UNCG went 2-1 in last season's three-game series with the Bears in Macon, Ga. The Spartans fell in game one but swept the doubleheader the next day to claim the series. UNCG has won the regular season series against the Bears the last six seasons.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG most recently dropped a 10-6 contest with Charlotte on Wednesday, April 24 in Greensboro.
- Jorde Chartrand put the Spartans on the board first when she scored off a double to center field from Blayke Batten.
- The Spartans tallied five runs on one hit in the bottom of the fifth cutting the deficit to four, 10-6.
- After recording her fifth home run of the season, Chartrand led UNCG with three RBI and two runs.
- Three Spartans notched one hit a piece.

- Brooklynn Maxwell is leading the conference across five categories: hits (64), runs per game (1.00), total bases (129), triples (5) and triples per game (.10).
- Maxwell currently stands out at seventh in the country with her 129 total bases. In addition, she is pacing the Spartans with a .393 batting average, 37 RBI, and 14 home runs.
- Grace Loftin is second on the team with 33 RBI and 12 homers.
- Maxwell and Shipley each lead the team with 13 doubles this season.
- Salem Ward is pacing the Spartans' pitching staff with 57 strikeouts in 72.1 innings of work.
- Spell is second on the team with 52 strikeouts in 85.2 innings.
- Rhyann Jones is third on the team with 46 strikeouts in 89.2 innings.
- Spell was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 26), while Anna White was named SoCon Player of the Week (Feb. 26).
- On March 11, Maxwell was named SoCon Player of the Week and Ward was tabbed SoCon Pitcher of the Week.

- Hanna Pitts stands out on the mound for the Bears with 69 strikeouts across 91.2 innings this season.
- Mercer was picked to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Poll with one first-place vote.
- Grace Taylor was named to the Preseason First-Team All-SoCon list ahead of the 2024 season.
