SoCon Announces Spring All-Conference Team
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After a successful performance in the classroom, 67 UNC Greensboro (UNCG) student-athletes have earned a spot on the Spring 2024 Academic All-Southern Conference (SoCon) Team, the conference announced Thursday.
Across the Spring 2024 Academic All-SoCon Team, 506 student-athletes earned 615 selections, which is the third highest in the spring for the conference.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
"We are proud to honor the academic excellence of each of each student athlete named to the Academic All-SoCon team," SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross said. "It takes an extraordinary amount of dedication to balance academic success with this degree of athletic performance."
The 67 Spartans named to the Spring 2024 Academic All-SoCon Team was an increase of 12 student-athletes to last spring's Academic All-SoCon Team, putting UNCG in third place for the most selections in the conference.
