SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the second time this season sophomore Gabby Seeds of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Setter of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Seeds notched 73 assists for a 12.17 assists per set average in six sets played on the week. She recorded a .408 setting percentage and added three kills, one ace, 12 digs and 3.0 total blocks in back-to-back sweeps over Western Carolina and Chattanooga.

"I am beyond blessed to receive SoCon Setter of the Week," said Seeds. "I'm truly grateful for everyone's endless support. I couldn't have gotten here without this amazing program surrounding me. This team has put in so much hard work and continues to play with grit. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this team!"

The Plano, Texas, native is second in the SoCon with 761 assists and a 9.76 assists per set average.
Seeds reached the 1,000-career assist milestone this season in the team's reverse sweep win over UNC Asheville on Sept. 20 in Greensboro.

Seeds' recognition marks the sixth SoCon Player of the Week award for the Spartans this season. Allie Sweet was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 1 & Sept. 15), Chloe Nussbaum earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1, Connore' Siler-Nixon was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, and Seeds previously earned the feat on Oct. 20.

The last time UNCG earned five SoCon weekly awards in a season was in 2021 as the Spartans collected nine that year.
