Men's Tennis Set for Spartan Fall Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team is set to host the Spartan Fall Invitational from Friday to Sunday at UNCG Tennis Courts. 
 
Tournament Information: 

  • Over the three days, all teams will compete against each other in both singles and doubles matches. 

  • All three days will be a 9:00 a.m. start with warm-ups beginning at 8:00 a.m. 

Teams Competing: 
UNCG, Gardner-Webb, Richmond, Davidson, Campbell, Belmont Abbey, North Carolina Wesleyan and Emory College.  
 
Spartans Last Season: 

  • UNCG concluded the 2025 regular season 9-14 overall and 2-5 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).  

  • The Spartans boast four seniors and three newcomers this season. 

  • Devon Moskowitz finished on top for the Spartans in singles this past year with 16 victories.  

  • Jon Gabelic and Andrew Black each had 10 singles wins last year.  

  • The dynamic duo of Black and Moskowitz had eight doubles victories last season which led the team.  

Scouting the Opponents 

  • Gardner-Webb – The Runnin' Bulldogs went 20-5 last year and captured the Big South Championship. Gardner-Webb advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they matched up against No.1 seed Wake Forest and lost 1-4.  

  • Richmond- Richmond boasted a 12-9 record last season and a 4-2 record in the Athletic-10 conference. Davis Wiley leads the Spiders as a senior, earning Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team last season.  

  • Davidson – The Wildcats went 12-11 last season and 2-2 in the A-10. Davidson made it to the conference championship game before losing to No.1 seed Dayton, 1-4.  

  • Campbell – The Fighting Camels went 7-12 last year and 1-3 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).  Campbell has seven returners coming back to the squad this season.  

  • Belmont Abbey- The Crusaders went 22-17 last season and split the series against the Spartans last year 1-1. The Crusaders won the Conference Carolina Tournament and made the NCAA Southeast Regional before being defeated by the No.1 seed Flager College, 2-4.  

  • NCWU- North Carolina Wesleyan went 13-13 last season and an unblemished 6-0 in the USA South Conference. The Battlin' Bishops went on to win the South Conference Championship and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to John Hopkins, 0-4. 

  • Emory- The Eagles come off an amazing 2025 season, going 17-7 and winning the University Athletic Association Tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Emory made the Quarterfinals before losing to Tufts University. Sophomore Ruilin Feng made the NCAA second round in the individual tournament last season.

The Spartans will travel to the Davidson Tournament on Sept. 26-29 in Davidson, North Carolina, at the Davidson Tennis Facilty.
