Gourdine’s Goal Sends Women’s Soccer Past High Point, 1-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team claimed a 1-0 victory over the High Point Panthers on Thursday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bailey Gourdine gave the Spartans a 1-0 advantage in the fifth minute with her third career goal and first of the season. Madison Bass found Gourdine outside the top left of the 18-yard box. Gourdine dribbled to about 16 yards out before launching the shot past High Point's Amelia Courbon into the bottom left of goal, making it 1-0 Spartans. Taylor Mentzer got the only other shot for the Spartans in the first half, coming in the 30th minute. However, both teams headed into the break with UNCG holding the one-goal advantage.

UNCG continued to control the momentum coming out of the locker room, notching six shots to High Point's two in the final 45 minutes. However, heavy defense kept both teams from finding the back of the net the rest of the game for the Spartans to walk away with the 1-0 win.
