SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Five Spartans of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team concluded the 17
th Carolinas Young Amateur at Mid South Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina, on Tuesday with current sophomore
Jake Lewis taking home first place.
Lewis carded rounds of 66-65 for an overall score of 11-under-par (131) to earn first place in the two-day tournament. The sophomore posted eight birdies and two eagles across the two rounds.
Keenan Royalty,
Liam Percy,
Reece Sanders and
Will Guidry also competed in the tournament.
Royalty finished in a tie for 19
th place with a two-over-par (144). The junior shot a six-over-par (77) on Monday before returning to the course on Tuesday to notch a four-under-par (67).
Percy followed in behind to finish tied for 27
th place with a five-over-par (147) with rounds of 72-75.
Sanders and Guidry rounded out the Spartans competing with an eight-over-par (150) to finish tied for 37
th place out of 83 individuals.
The Spartans return to the course for the spring by hosting the Palmas del Mar Collegiate from Feb. 8-10 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, at Palmas Del Mar Flamboyan.
