Volleyball to Host The Citadel Friday and Saturday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team will continue The Southern Conference (SoCon) play by hosting The Citadel on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Bodford Arena.

The Spartans secured both regular season meetings with the Bulldogs last season with scores of 3-2 and 3-0. UNCG is 36-13 in the overall series against The Citadel.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • The Spartans come into the weekend with a 9-7 overall record and 2-3 mark in SoCon play.
  • UNCG most recently fell in a five-set battle with ETSU on Tuesday night in Johnson City, Tennessee.
  • UNCG went 2-0 in the opening week of SoCon play, securing back-to-back victories over Western Carolina in Bodford Arena with scores of 3-0 and 3-1.
  • The Spartans have received four SoCon Player of the Week accolades this season, including Allie Sweet earning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 21 & Sept. 28) and Izora Gragg being named SoCon Setter of the Week twice (Aug. 31 & Sept. 7).
  • Sweet stands out in the top five among national rankings, including: kills (1st/302), points (1st/348.0), total attacks (2nd/841), attacks per set (2nd/13.35), kills per set (3rd/4.79) and points per set (5th/5.52).
  • Gragg is second in the conference in assists per set (9.71) and third in total assists (612). Her 612 total assists this season puts her at 15th nationally.
  • Connore' Siler-Nixon paces the team in the middle and is second in the conference with a 1.11 blocks per set average and third with 70 total blocks this season.
  • Chloe Nussbaum is the leading libero for the Spartans and sixth in the SoCon with 225 total digs this year.
  • As a team, the Spartans are second in the SoCon in assists per set (12.02), hitting percentage (.214) and kills per set (13.00).
  • In the team's win over Delaware State on Sept. 20, Sweet broke the single match program record in kills with 36. The previous record was 34 kills held by Becky Moore against Chattanooga on Oct. 3, 1997.
  • Sweet, Nussbaum and Gragg have all hit career milestones this season. Gragg achieved 2,000 career assists in UNCG's SoCon opener against Western Carolina on Sept. 25. In addition, in the team's matchup at Clemson on Sept. 4, Sweet paced the Spartans with 16 kills to secure 1,000 career kills, while after leading UNCG with 19 digs, Nussbaum reached 1,000 career digs.
  • UNCG recorded a 17-12 overall record and a 9-7 mark in the SoCon last season.
  • UNCG was selected to finish fourth in the 2026 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll with 50 total points. 
  • Sweet was named to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after being selected to the All-SoCon First Team last season.
  • The 2026 roster features 12 returners and five newcomers, including four freshmen and one transfer.
  • Head Coach Trent Dunahoo is in his first season at the helm of the UNCG volleyball team and fourth season overall with the program. The 3-1 win over Northeastern on Aug. 29 marked his first win as a head coach.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
  • The Citadel comes to Greensboro with a 4-13 overall record and 1-4 mark in the SoCon.
  • The Bulldogs most recently collected their first SoCon win this season in a 3-1 win over Furman on Tuesday night in Charleston, South Carolina.
  • The Citadel went 0-27 overall and 0-16 last season.
  • The Bulldogs were picked to finish 10th in the 2026 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Greta Pleuss is the leading setter for the team with 371 assists this season.
  • Rachel Reininger is pacing the offense with 154 kills.
  • Jess Martin (173 digs) and Luci Lippelgoos (34.0 blocks) are leading the team defensively.
  • Head Coach Dave Zelenock is in his ninth season at the helm of the Citadel volleyball program with a 103-140 record during his time.
