GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team dismantled the VMI Keydets, 92-71, in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play on Wednesday night inside Bodford Arena, improving its win streak to three.
Clinton Efinda and
KJ Younger paced the Spartans with 21 points apiece. Efinda's 21 points marks a new career best.
Justin Neely and
Lilian Marville followed closely behind with 16 points each to round out the Spartans in double-figures.
With today's 16 points, Neely has now reached the 1,000-career points milestone. Of his 1,000 points, 558 came at UAlbany, while the remaining 442 have been recorded this season as a Spartan.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow start with both teams only scoring four points apiece in the first four minutes, the Spartans recorded 10 unanswered points to take an 11-4 advantage at 12:34, keeping the Keydets from taking another lead in the game. With UNCG holding a 26-18 lead at 5:45, a triple from Efinda began a 21-2 Spartan run to close out the first half with a 27-point cushion, 47-20.
Younger got the scoring started coming out of the locker room with a three-pointer, giving UNCG a 30-point advantage, 50-20, its largest lead of the contest. The Keydets turned on the momentum by recording a 16-4 run, cutting their deficit to 18 at 15:11, 54-36. VMI continued to chip away, but UNCG maintained its steady lead. The Spartans closed out the game with a 7-2 run, walking away comfortably with the 92-71 victory.

- Neely was one board shy of a double-double with his 16 points and leading UNCG with nine boards.
- Younger and Efinda collected five boards apiece.
- Noah Norgaard led the Spartans with a new career-best seven assists and chipped in six points.
- Younger and Whitehead Jr. collected two steals apiece.
- Norgaard and Efinda recorded one block apiece.
- UNCG led the way in points off turnovers (11-6), rebounds (38-30), second chance points (10-7), bench points (29-13), fast break points (9-5) and assists (21-15).
- VMI bested UNCG in points in the paint (28-26), blocks (3-2) and steals (7-6).
