GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team lost both games to No. 18 Kentucky, 11-3 and 10-6, on Saturday at UNCG Baseball Stadium. The Spartans secured seven base knocks in each game but could only amount to nine total runs across the two games.
Game One
JT Weaver got the start for game one of two against the Wildcats on Saturday. However, the Kentucky offense picked up right where it left off yesterday, pushing across six runs in the top of the second for an early 6-0 advantage. Weaver was pulled in the top of the third and freshman Cannon Lee came in for relief. Lee, in his collegiate debut, went three and a third innings with three earned runs giving up one strikeout and one walk. The Wildcats struck again in the fifth and sixth frames to tack on five additional runs to extend the lead to 11-0. The Spartans' offense came alive in the bottom of the sixth, with back-to-back RBI singles from Brantley Truitt and Luke Holland to put the score at 11-2. UNCG added another run when Jacob Dilley blasted a solo shot over the left field wall in the bottom of the seventh to round out the final score of 11-3.

Game Two
Game two of the day, third of the series, saw more back-and-forth action to start out. The Spartan's Hunter Shuey got the starting nod and kept the Kentucky buzzsaw at bay, going four innings on three earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts. In the top of the second, the Wildcats opened the scoring with a walk then a triple mashed into the right field gap to go up 1-0. UNCG responded in the bottom of the frame however, with a Truitt sacrifice fly bringing home JJ Parsons to knot up the score at one. with two outs and a runner on first and third, Kentucky saw Lawrence connect for a two-run single extending its lead to 3-1. The Wildcats offense continued to hum as they tacked on an additional two runs in the fifth. Dilley added one run back due to a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth to put the score at 6-2. Each side would trade runs back-and-forth with Kentucky keeping a sizable distance until the bottom of the ninth when the score was 10-3. In the last three outs of the game, the UNCG offense roared into life. Loading the bases and pushing across three RBIs in the final frame to put the game at the final score of 10-6.
