GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team completed the series sweep against Canisius, 12-2, on Sunday afternoon at UNCG Baseball Stadium. The Spartan bats came alive as they tallied 11 hits in the contest with six different batters driving in an RBI.
UNCG struck early as doubles from both Luke Jenkins and Jacob Budzik drove in four RBIs in the first. Hunter Shuey was given the nod for the final game of the series and started off dealing. He went three perfect innings before running into trouble in the fourth frame. The Spartans' starter gave up four walks and a single which Canisius capitalized on and put two runs on the board to make the score 4-2 after four. However that is all the Golden Griffins mustered, as they were held to just one hit the remainder of the game with Thomas Hester coming in the top of the fifth to shut the door. Jake Mueller drove home Jacob Dilley with a single to extend the lead to 5-2 after five innings. In the bottom of the seventh, UNCG would put up seven runs in the frame, spearheaded by a Brantley Truitt triple that brought home three RBIs to end the game at 12-2.
