DORADO, PUERTO RICO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished in third place at the Dorado Beach Collegiate after recording a three-under-par (285) in the third and final round on Tuesday at TPC Dorado Beach.
TEAM
- UNCG claimed third place in the three-day tournament behind rounds of 289-286-285 for an overall score of four-under-par (860).
- This is the third time this season that the Spartans have finished a tournament in the top five.
- Stetson earned first place on the 15-team leaderboard with a 15-under-par (849) overall score.
- Southern Mississippi secured second place behind a seven-under-par (857).
- The Spartans finished ahead of Elon, George Mason, Butler, App State, Army, Illinois State, George Washington, Georgia State, Old Dominion, Temple, Providence and Bryant, respectively.
- UNCG finished on top with a 4.05 average on par four holes, while finishing second in the field with 175 total pars.
INDIVIDUAL
- Kelvin Hernandez finished on top for the Spartans and tied for seventh place with a two-under-par (214). He posted a two-over-par (74) in the opening round on Sunday before notching back-to-back rounds of two-under-par (70).
- This marks the second time this season that Hernandez has finished a tournament in the top ten.
- B.J. Boyce followed closely behind, finishing tied for 11th place with rounds of 69-74-72 for an overall score of one-under-par (215). Boyce finished tied for second with 41 total pars in the tournament.
- Jake Lewis finished tied for 13th place with an even-par score (216) with rounds of 73-69-74.
- Dax Isbell moved up a solid 20 positions with his season-best and best as a Spartan round score of three-under-par (69) on Tuesday. Dax finished tied for 34th place with a five-over-par (221) three-round score.
- Liam Percy and Keenan Royalty both finished tied for 44th place with a seven-over-par (223). Percy finished tied for third with a 3.97 average on par four holes, while Royalty finished tied for third with 13 birdies.
- Will Guidry and Cole Isbell rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans, finishing tied for 52nd place with a 10-over-par (226). Cole made the biggest leap for the Spartans in the final round, moving up 22 spots with his season-best and best as a Spartan two-under-par (70) round score on Tuesday.
- Matthis Lefevre of Stetson finished on top of the 93-player leaderboard with a six-under-par (210) behind rounds of 72-68-70.
