GCAA Team Academic Award Announced

NORMAN, Okla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team earned a spot on the 2025-26 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic list and was named to the Presidents Special Recognition list, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.

A GCAA-record 331 schools across six divisions earned a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award. 155 schools received Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above in 2025-26. To be eligible for the GCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have earned a 3.00 grade-point average (GPA) or above for the 2025-26 academic year.

Among The Southern Conference (SoCon), UNCG, ETSU, Furman and Mercer, were selected to the GCAA Presidents Special Recognition list, while Chattanooga, Samford and Wofford earned a spot on the GCAA All-Academic Team.

Along with the team award, four Spartans were also named to the 2025-26 NCAA Division I Cobalt GCAA All-America Scholar list announced this past Monday, including, B.J. Boyce, Dax Isbell, Kelvin Hernandez and Jake Lewis.

UNCG finished in fourth place in the 2026 SoCon Championships behind a nine-over-par (861) with round scores of 289-290-282. The Spartans carded their best finish of the season at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Feb. 24, notching third place with a three-under-par (285). UNCG recorded six top-10 finishes on the 2025-26 season.

Hernandez earned the automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Regionals after securing first place in the 2026 SoCon Championships on April 29 at Solina Country Club. Hernandez' appearance in the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional marked the 10^th time in the UNCG Division I era that the Spartans have made an NCAA Regionals appearance as either a team or individual.
